Dori Series is designed with inspiration from dori, a structural element in traditional hanok architecture that supports the roof’s weight, and the surrounding components that interlock with it. Just as dori supports the roof in a hanok, the series applies its structural function, supporting the user’s body as a bench or holding objects as a table when paired with a glass top. The floor lamp reinterprets the form of dori and jangyeo (a supporting component positioned beneath the dori to reinforce it and prevent sagging) by carefully wrapping hanji (traditional Korean paper) around the cylindrical form and stitching it into shape.
